1Password for Mac/iOS Review

Every time I buy a new Apple product, there are a few apps I install almost immediately. One of those apps is 1Password.

1Password is one of the most important apps on my iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch and one I will never be caught without.

Why You Need 1Password

Secure passwords are becoming more important by the day. As time goes on, more of our personal data is being stored on the cloud and the risk for security breaches has never been higher.

Despite this, people continue to use easy to guess passwords that leave their data – their lives – open to intruders. Several years ago I made the commitment to be secure by making these promises:

  1. Don’t use the same password on multiple services
  2. Don’t make passwords easy to guess and any less than 10 characters
  3. Save everything in 1Password

It turns out that #3 is the main reason why I was able to stick with my first two commitments. 1Password has made it easy for me to create secure passwords and easily sign in without having to remember each one.

A Digital Vault For Your Important Data

I like to think of 1Password as a vault for my most important data: passwords, credit card numbers, my health information, and more.

Just like the name describes, I can access all this information by entering 1 master password which unlocks my vault – or by using my fingerprint. Otherwise, it’s securely protected by 1Password.

1Password makes it easy to add new logins with a wonderful Safari extension which automatically prompts me to save new login information when signing up for a new service or signing in for the first time. All I need to do is describe the login with a name and 1Password saves it to all my devices.

On All Platforms

Speaking of platforms, 1Password supports all of them. I use 1Password on my Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch. It’s also available on Windows/Android if you use one of those platforms for work. Using your choice of Dropbox, iCloud or the built-in syncing service, all of your passwords seamlessly sync between your devices.

My Digital Savior

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been saved by 1Password. All of my close friends and family can vouch that I have a terrible memory. I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night, let alone a 25-character alphanumeric password.

Not only does 1Password allow me to be secure by remembering these passwords, it also encourages me to be secure by recommending passwords with the built-in password creation feature.

I’m confident in saying if I didn’t have 1Password, I wouldn’t be secure. It wouldn’t be feasible for someone like me.

Simply Put, You Should Use 1Password

If you haven’t already downloaded 1Password, you should do so right now. Start being secure and protecting your online information like I did. There are many things in life people take for granted, but the security of your personal information shouldn’t be one of them.

1Password is available on Mac for $89.99 and is available as a universal iOS app for free with an in-app purchase of $9.99 to unlock Pro Features. There’s even family and business plans available.
